Coach Charles "Chuck" Colborn

Charles "Chuck" Colborn has over 35 years of vast coaching experience, ranging from high school, NCAA Division I and II athletics, to military special operations. His coaching philosophy is based upon these experiences to encompass whole-body conditioning with emphasis on agility, dynamic stability, and aerobic system development. His methodologies have proven successful in the training of thousands of athletes across a multitude of sports.

Coach Colborn obtained his Bachelor of Science in Education and Coaching Certificate from California University in Pennsylvania, where he was a standout dual athlete in football and wrestling. His personal accolades included finishing in the Top 10 in the country for passing while quarterback for the Vulcans. He went on to begin his coaching career at his alma mater as Strength and Conditioning Coach, Quarterback Coach, as well as team Offensive Coordinator. Chuck oversaw the coaching and development of numerous players that went on to have productive careers in the NFL, including 3 quarterbacks. His offenses ranked top 5 in passing yards for NCAA Division II 4 of the 5 years of his tenure.

Coach Colborn then moved-on from Cal U to serve as Athletic Director, Head Football Coach, Wrestling Coach, and Strength & Conditioning Coach for several top-tiered Pennsylvania high school districts where he was responsible for the development and implementation of cutting-edge testing metrics based upon his collegiate coaching experience. In 1997, while serving as Athletic Director for Ringgold School District in Monongahela, PA, Chuck oversaw the installation of the first long-pile infilled turf football field in the United States. His expertise in facility design, development, and management lead to him to a position working for FieldTurf®, where he assisted with the design and development of multiple high school and NCAA turf field facilities to include the University of Nebraska and the University of Cincinnati.

Chuck's career took another turn in 2010 when the opportunity arose to develop strength and conditioning programming for special operations servicemembers. He relocated to Camp Lejeune, North Carolina to serve as the subject matter expert for the inaugural human performance program for the United States Marine Corps Forces Special Operations Command (MARSOC). While at MARSOC, Chuck was responsible for program design, testing metric selection, and defining optimal Special Operator performance standards that have served as the bedrock for the strength and conditioning programming for the MARSOC Human Performance and Resiliency Program. Additionally, Chuck's insight into sports performance training facility design led to him serving a lead role in the development of two state-of-the art training facilities. In the midst of his successes at MARSOC, Coach Colborn was recruited to work as Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach for East Carolina University in 2011, where he worked with NCAA Division I Football, Women’s Basketball, and Men and Women’s Golf programs. He eventually found his way back to MARSOC, where he continued to serve as Lead Strength Coach for 3d Marine Raider Battalion.

In addition to his work in collegiate and military strength and conditioning, Chuck has continued to develop young athletes in his roles as Assistant Wrestling and Football Coach, as well as Football Offensive Coordinator for Croatan High School, in Newport, NC. Under his leadership, the Cougars won their first football conference championship in school history in 2016, have had 3x wrestling state champions, 25x wrestling state place winners, duel team wrestling state champions, and duel team wresting state runner-up in six of the last seven years.

Coach Colborn lives in Morehead City, NC with his wife Stacey, and is the proud parent of two sons. He holds multiple coaching certifications to include Art of Strength Kettlebell Instructor and Functional Movement System certification.
